National market surveillance strategy

This national market surveillance strategy is drafted in accordance with Article 13 of Regulation (EU) 2019/1020.

The national strategy contributes to a consistent, comprehensive, and integrated approach to market surveillance and enforcement of Union harmonization legislation within the Belgian territory. When developing the national market surveillance strategy, all sectors covered by Union harmonization legislation, as well as all stages of the product supply chain, including imports and digital supply chains, are taken into account.

The national strategy is drafted and communicated by the “Single Liaison Office” (SLO). This liaison office was established under European Regulation (EU) 2019/1020 on market surveillance and compliance of products and is part of the liaison office unit.

The SLO is responsible for coordinating between the various national market surveillance authorities and representing the common position at EU level. The office also assists in cooperation between market surveillance authorities in different Member States when mutual assistance is requested.
