You booked a trip and then, Foreign Affairs advises against this destination, due to local security issues. It does not mean that, if you decide not to go, your insurer will automatically cover the cost of cancelling your trip.

Check the terms and conditions of your policy.

Insurance policies generally do not cover cases of force majeure.

Circumstances such as riots, civil war, terrorist attacks, as well as natural disasters are generally excluded from the cover even though Foreign Affairs advises against travel.

In addition, the "assistance insurance" component, which offers you professional assistance, particularly medical assistance, is likely to intervene according to the terms of the contract.

Remember to check your insurance policy for exclusions, including those relating to countries, circumstances and behaviour.
