The Energy Technology Club – an initiative of Agoria,

Have the pleasure to invite you on Monday 26th of February 2024 for the presentation of the “World Energy Outlook 2023”.

At this upcoming event, Dr Fatih Birol, the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), is set to unveil the key findings of the World Energy Outlook 2023 (WEO). Mrs Tinne Van der Straeten, the federal Minister for Energy, will introduce Dr Birol and also share the key highlights of the Belgian energy policy.

Following these notable presentations, there will be a dynamic exchange of ideas in an interactive debate featuring distinguished panellists from both the private and public sectors. The focus of this discussion will center on whether progress in clean energy technologies and innovation is on track to achieve our climate and energy targets, which barriers exist and how they can be overcome.

In the afternoon a deep dive session will be organised, focussing on recent work of the IEA on critical minerals in the energy transition. This intervention will be complemented by practical insight of industry leaders as well as an open discussion with the audience.

About the World Energy Outlook 2023

The WEO is the energy world’s most authoritative source of analysis and projections. This flagship publication of the IEA has appeared every year since 1998. Its objective data and dispassionate analysis provide critical insights into global energy supply and demand in different scenarios and the implications for energy security, climate targets and economic development.

The 2023 World Energy Outlook (WEO) was published against the backdrop of rising geopolitical tensions and fragile energy markets. This year’s report explores how structural shifts in economies and in energy use are shifting the way that the world meets rising demand for energy. As such it provides an indispensable guide to the opportunities, benefits and risks at this vital moment for clean energy transitions.
