    For which problems

You think you did not receive the appropriate medical attention (Patient rights act of 22 August 2002(in French or in Dutch)) from a general practitioner, dentist, pharmacist, independent nurse, independent physiotherapist, from a doctor who decides whether certain forms of medical treatment should be reimbursed by health insurance, from a jail practitioner or from a retirement house practitioner.

The federal mediation service ‘Patient rights’ also works as relay for complaints dealing with the way a conciliation is led by the local mediators (=mediators working for a health institution) (in French or in Dutch).

Please note, the federal mediation service does not serve as an appeal instance as regards the content of complaits that were handled by a local mediator.

    Fees

During a first contact, I will check whether your dispute can be dealt with amicably or not. I will give you any useful information about my possible intervention. My rate will only start to apply when you and the other party have formally assigned me my mission.

    No.

    Prerequisite for access

You must have tried to solve the dispute directly with the other party, to no avail.

    How does it work

The mediation service tries to find an amicable solution to the patient’s problem if this problem could not be solved directly with the practitioner or the health institution in question.
