The Hague System for the international registration of industrial designs allows rights holders to protect designs in multiple countries by filing a single request in a single language with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) (or a national office, such as the Benelux Office).

Moreover, this system greatly simplifies the subsequent management of designs, given that later changes or the renewal of a registration may be registered by a single simple procedure through the WIPO.

When this international registration is completed, the design is not protected in every country of the world, but only in the countries for which the applicant requested protection.

The Hague System for the international registration of industrial designs only applies between the countries that are part of the Hague Agreement.
