Businesses, diplomatic missions and private individuals are all entitled to the basic banking service. The basic banking service was introduced to stop them from being excluded for banking services. This means banks are required to provide services.
In practice, the basic banking service entails the right to minimum service: access to a current account and most essential transactions that are associated with it. The basic banking service does not provide the right to credit and is not necessarily free of charge.
Each grant of the basic banking service is subject to legal conditions. In certain cases, the credit institution can terminate the basic banking service.
