The new Belgian nomenclature of economic activities (NACE-BEL 2025) came into force on 1 January 2025, following the adoption of a new European regulation (NACE Rev. 2.1.). The new version replaces the one in force since 2008.
NACE-BEL codes are numerical codes used to classify economic activities in Belgium. They are used to record activities in the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (CBE) for all registered entities (hereinafter referred to as “entities”).
All active activities in the CBE registered with a 2008 NACE-BEL code were automatically converted to a 2025 NACE-BEL code for each activity group. Newly created entities are directly assigned a new 2025 NACE-BEL code.
When automatically converted to 2025 NACE-BEL codes, active activities registered with a 2008 NACE-BEL code were discontinued with an end date of 31 December 2024. Activities converted to a 2025 NACE-BEL code were registered with a start date of 1 January 2025.
However, this is not always a 1-1 conversion. Some 2008 NACE-BEL codes have multiple corresponding 2025 codes in the 2008-2025 conversion table. In such cases, only one 2025 NACE-BEL code was entered in the CBE during the automatic conversion. As a result, the activities of your entity and/or establishment unit may be incorrect and/or incomplete.
The final version of NACE-BEL 2025 (i.e. the new 5-digit NACE-BEL structure and headings) and the 2008-2025 conversion table can be accessed on the Statbel website.
The 2025 activity codes table and the 2008-2025 conversion table with 7-digit activity codes are available via the “Table of Codes” webpage of the FPS Economy webstie.
