Safety of pressure equipment: at a glance

Pressure equipment covers a very wide and varied field, including products ranging from domestic pressure cookers to industrial pressure vessels and piping to air conditioning.

The pressure equipment sector therefore has several sub-sectors, each with their own regulations.

Pressure equipment

Pressure equipment : vessels, piping, safety accessories and pressurised accessories. Where appropriate, the parts attached to the pressurised components, such as flanges, catches, joints, lifting lugs etc., are considered part of pressure equipment;

For example, pressure cookers, steam generators etc.

Simple pressure vessels

simple pressure vessel is a welded vessel subjected to relative internal pressure over 0.5 bars. It is designed to contain air or nitrogen, but it is not designed to be exposed to flames.

For example, an air compressor vessel.

Aerosol dispensers

Aerosol dispensers are devices consisting of a non-reusable vessel made from metal, glass or plastic, containing compressed gas, liquefied or dissolved under pressure, with or without liquid, paste or powder. This vessel is equipped with a dispensing device enabling the outflow of its content as solid or liquid particles suspended in a gas or as a foam, paste or powder, or as liquid.

For example, hairspray, whipped cream spray, spray paint etc.

Transportable pressure equipment

Transportable pressure equipment  can be generally described as vessels or tanks used for transporting certain gases and hazardous substances.
For example, tank containers, tank trucks, cryogenic vessels etc.

This equipment falls under the competence of the FPS Mobility and Transport
