In many cases, construction products are not end products but intermediate products used for construction works.
These construction works must meet a number of essential requirements regarding:
To meet these requirements, it is important to be sure of the features of the construction products used.
The CE mark is not affixed to all construction products.
A manufacturer must affix the CE mark where there is a harmonised standard for their product, from a specific date.
A manufacturer can also affix the CE mark to other construction products. To do so, they must hold a European Technical Approval (ETA) .
The CE mark indicates that the performance of a construction product’s features was established in a manner accepted at European level, so that the product can be trusted and be freely traded within the European market
To be able to affix the CE mark to a construction product, there must be a manufacturer’s declaration of conformity for the product.
Confirming the conformity of a product means:
The evaluation system to use for a product is specified by the European Commission after consultation with the Standing Committee on Construction and is binding on the producer
